Singapore, February 3, 2025 – UNL Global, a Singapore-based next generation micro-location database and mapping technology company, today announced its partnership with GrabMaps. This will enable Southeast Asian businesses and developers, using UNL’s pixel-based mapping and location, to build and enhance their hyperlocal location services and applications leveraging GrabMaps’ rich and extensive location data around addresses and POIs, roads, traffic, incidents and imagery.
A wide range of on-demand solutions — from mobility and ride-hailing to e-commerce, last-mile logistics and food delivery, and emergency services — rely on accurate data and efficient location-based services to provide seamless and reliable experiences.
UNL pioneers real-world game engine solutions, creating digital twins of places to solve major challenges for on-demand businesses in emerging markets. These include unreliable addressing, lack of last-mile data, dependencies on traditional road networks and difficulties in routing beyond street-to-street level, such as indoor spaces, venues and elevation.
This partnership will see GrabMaps and UNL collaborate to integrate and bundle the UNL advanced location technology with GrabMaps’ extensive map data for developing location-based services.
GrabMaps’ data includes over 56 million addresses and points of interests (POIs) spanning Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. It leverages Grab’s extensive network of consumers, merchants, and driver and delivery partners, extracting and refreshing mapping data on a daily basis from millions of orders and rides, with real-time feedback from partners on road closures, business address changes and more.
Beyond access to highest quality and high granularity map data, including addresses, POIs, traffic, roads and incidents data of the region, businesses and developers can leverage radically optimized search, discovery and navigation services, calculate precise ETAs, customize routes based on various parameters and vehicles, including for 2-, 3-wheelers and EVs, optimize fleet utilization and more. The integrated solutions will further help businesses in Fleet management, logistics, EVs & Automotive space to reduce operational inefficiencies, cut costs, enhance customer experiences, and unlock new avenues for growth.
Xander van der Heijden, CEO and founder of UNL, said: “As one of the fastest-growing regions globally, Southeast Asia’s booming economy and increasingly connected population demand innovative solutions to meet the unique challenges of this dynamic region.
