UNL Global and GREd Foundation join forces to equip students with advanced geospatial skills

NEW DELHI, INDIA — UNL Global, a smart micro-location infrastructure and new generation mapping technology startup, and GREd Foundation, a leading Indian organization focused on building a talented workforce in the geospatial industry, today announced their partnership to integrate the UNL Micro-location platform into GREd’s educational programs. The collaboration aims to equip students in PG Diploma and six-month programs with advanced geospatial skills, paving the way for better employability and expertise in GIS (Geographic Information System) technologies.

The UNL platform will enable students to create Virtual Private Maps (VPMs) and learn essential geospatial concepts such as Geocoding, Reverse Geocoding, Point of Interest (POI), shortest route creation, OD Cost Matrix, Geofencing, and Service Area Analysis. The partnership will also expose students to the latest engineering trends and the importance of API and web mapping applications.

“We are delighted to partner with GREd Foundation to integrate our UNL Micro-location platform into their educational programs, equipping students with advanced geospatial skills that are increasingly in demand in today’s job market,” says Xander van der Heijden, Founder and CEO of UNL.  “At UNL, we are committed to empowering the next generation of developers to create new-generation hyperlocal solutions that will transform industries and shape the future of cities. This partnership represents a significant step towards realizing that vision.”

By joining forces, GREd Foundation and UNL are committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4, which calls for inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all, and SDG 9, which emphasizes the need for inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements. The partnership seeks to promote urban planning using UNL applications and raise awareness about the significance of sustainable cities.

“As an organization focused on building a talented workforce in the geospatial industry, we are thrilled to partner with UNL. Through this collaboration, we aim to equip students with advanced geospatial skills, and promote spatial thinking using UNL platform. This partnership comes at a crucial time as the GREd Foundation addresses the geospatial industry’s need for a trained workforce in India, and with the new National Education Policy (NEP) and liberalized guidelines for acquiring geospatial data, we are poised to nurture spatial thinking in young minds.” Adds Kunal Rao Maddu, Founder of GREd Foundation.

About UNL

UNL is a smart micro-location infrastructure and new-generation mapping technology startup building the Internet of Places – a digital 1:1 geodata twin of the physical world. Powering location-based services from e-commerce and last-mile delivery to smart city and autonomous solutions.

By digitizing physical locations and creating an infrastructure to interact with them, we solve some of the biggest hyperlocal challenges that traditional mapping hasn’t been able to do so far – starting with addressing, geocoding, dynamic routing, and self-healing maps.

Via the UNL Micro-location Platform, we provide businesses from all sizes – start-ups, SMEs to enterprises – with do-it-yourself mapping and location data services to manage their own Virtual Private Maps and build scalable hyperlocal solutions with location intelligence at various scales.

UNL is based in Singapore, with offices in New Delhi (India), Amsterdam (The Netherlands), and Dubai (UAE).
